Cleeve Common for learning

Cleeve Common Trust is happy to host educational visits for school children and young people of all ages, as well community and uniformed groups. We also welcome life long learning groups to join our events and activities or contact us for something more bespoke. Here you will find a little more information about learning sessions we can run, but if you can’t find the right fit for you here, please contact us and we can look to develop a session around your needs.

We have secured funding from Natural England to deliver FREE educational visits for school aged children looking to study the links between farming, conservation and food production using Cleeve Common as a classroom. This can make up part of a day including different learning sessions too. Contact us for more details.

The following pages make up our education toolkit. It is designed to equip you, the teacher or community group leader, with all the information that you need to be able to bring people to Cleeve Common and to help them and you to enjoy and learn from everything the Common has to offer.

The toolkit aims to highlight Cleeve Common as a fun and safe learning environment where children can experience learning in the outdoors and gain an increased understanding of farming and rural life, conservation, history and geology.

The Common is open to the public for your enjoyment, but please remember that it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and an important part of our natural heritage. It is open access land (Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000), and as such you are permitted to bring groups to the Common independently, however, we ask that you please always let us know when you will be visiting.

Our rangers often like to welcome groups, and one will make sure they are available during your visit to assist if an emergency situation occurred. We can also let you know if there are other public events being run which may clash with your visit, or if there are electric fences and stock roaming in the areas you plan to visit, so please keep in touch with us.
